Informative Travel & Hotel Guides to Nice, France

Getting There & Away

By Air

The Nice International Airport, Nice-Côte d'Azur international airport, is 6km (3.5mi) west of Nice.  It is the second busiest airport in France with over 40 national and international airlines fly in and out of Nice, and services to Paris are very frequent.

By Train

Several railway stations connect the French Riviera to all French and European cities.  Nice's main train station is Gare Nice Ville.  Over 150 trains leave the Nice Ville station towards major cities in France and Italy daily.  Also, the high-speed TGV train connects Paris to Nice.

By Car

Cars, motorcycles and mopeds with insurance helmets and petrol can be possibly rented.  However, a deposit and credit card would be required for most rentals.  And driving in Nice can be tough and the parking is often much further away from your destination.

By Bus

Several bus companies link Nice with French and international destinations.  The public transport system is efficient and also providing connections to all parts of the city.  Obtain the detailed information from tourist information offices which hand out free schedules and guide books for you.

Getting Around

There is an efficient bus service that covers the city with routes all along the Riviera. A half-hourly bus service runs from the airport to Nice train station, where you can catch another bus to promenade des Anglais or the beach.  For other destinations in the city, check out the central bus station on square Général Leclerc. The train service is both inexpensive and frequent.  Also, a miniature train that gives a 45-minute tour around the city, is available in Nice.

Perhaps, the best way to explore the centre of town is on foot, but car can be easily hired.  And having your own wheels can be helpful for discovering the rest of the Côte d'Azur.
